A walk in Cluj

In the heart of Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca is one of the biggest cities in Romania. It is a town full of history and hospitable people. You can find here the Transylvanian calm and open-minded people.
Cluj-Napoca offers a wide range of possibilities for personal and company development, owing to its geographical position, the local resources and, not least, the skill, education, and seriousness of its inhabitants.

For the beginning, you should take a look at a 4-minute presentation made by Cluj City Hall, “Cluj-Napoca, the city of heart”:
.

Today, the city has one of the most vibrant economies in the country and a population of around 330000. Cluj-Napoca is an important academic, cultural, industrial and business center in Romania. Among other institutions, it hosts the country’s largest university, Babeș-Bolyai University–  with its botanical garden, the Technical University, founded in 1948 – and University of Medicine and Pharmacy -.

Cluj-Napoca held the titles of European Youth Capital in 2015-

and European City of Sport in 2018.

The main square, with 18th and 19th-century buildings and home to many shops and restaurants, is dominated by the 15th century St. Michael’s Church, one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in Romania-.
The square also claims the 18th-century baroque Banffy Palace, housing the weaponry and Romanian art collections of the Art Museum.

To find more about the Transylvania region, you should visit the open-air Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania, a true display of folk architecture.

For entertainment, spend an enjoyable evening at the Opera, or Theater, or attend a classical music concert offered by the Cluj Philharmonic.

The Orthodox Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca was built between 1923 and 1933 after the Union of Transylvania with the Romanian Old Kingdom.

You cannot leave Cluj-Napoca without going up to Cetățuia Hill for a delightful view and an open-air bar. At the top of the hill, there is a fortification built during the Habsburg period. It was built with star-shaped walls, with 5 corner bastions, 3 gates, and a defensive moat.

For a piece of silence, close to the city center, there is the Central Park. It is a great place for relaxing, walking, lying on the grass, running, or just hammock under trees shadows. Here is placed the entrance of the “UNTOLD Festival” and it hosts lots of yearly events, like “Jazz in the Park”.
